MYTRLE BEACH, SC, September 21, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- In the first holiday survey released by Gift Card Central on September 10th shows that 86.7 percent of shoppers said that they would like to receive gift cards, making them the most requested gift item eleven years in a row. "Retailers' initial advancements and selective offerings have made it simpler for buyers to discover all that they require without considering striking the gift voucher rack," said Gift Card Central's National Account Director Cindy Shulman. "Along these lines, there is an entrancing separation between gift card suppliers and gift card recipients which makes this is a huge blessing for our company" stated Gift Card Central CEO Justin Baringer. "In any case, doubtlessly early and last minute shoppers will purchase gift cards at an alarming rate this season," continued Baringer. According to the survey, shoppers plan to spend an average of $65.33 per card. Adults 65+ who plan to buy at least one card will spend the most overall, spending an average of $204.67; this same age group will also spend the most per card ($75.88).

Again this year, men plan to spend more than women on gift cards ($174.11 vs. $155.26 respectively). Of those who plan to buy at least one card, more than half (60.7%) understand the practicality of the cards and said they will buy gift cards because they allow the recipients to select their own gift. Nearly one-quarter of shoppers (23.9%) plan to buy online gift cards because they know they are easier and faster to buy than traditional gifts and 7.6 percent said gift cards are easier to mail and ship to out-of-town family and friends.
