/24-7PressRelease/ -- Pacific Ridge School, an independent, non-profit school in Carlsbad that fosters academic excellence, ethical responsibility and global engagement to prepare students for college and a purposeful life, has become the designated recipient of a native plant donation by Cisco Systems. The native plants were recently utilized to demonstrate Ciscofs sustainability efforts at its corporate conference held at the Four Seasons Resort Aviara in Carlsbad from October 20-22, 2009. Following the conference, Richard Carlstrom of the Carlstrom Production Company and the producer of the conference, authorized up to a $3,000 native plant donation, to include the purchase and transportation of the plants that were awarded to Pacific Ridge School.
A portion of the donation will also be allocated toward Pacific Ridge Schoolfs middle school service learning native plant restoration project with the Center for Natural Lands Management at the Calavera Nature Preserve. On Friday, October 23, Mr. Carlstrom participated in a ceremonial planting on the Pacific Ridge School campus, with representatives from the middle school service learning group, which is currently working on sustainability and gardening projects.
