NC Department of Administration HUB Office Certifies Marketing Firm Christina Motley LLC

Eligibility certification by the North Carolina Office for Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUB Office) provides the opportunity for minority/women owned businesses to bid on state government contracts.

RALEIGH, NC, June 10, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Office for Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUB Office) awarded Triangle CMO-on-Demand Christina Motley a certificate as a woman-owned business for her integrated marketing firm, Christina Motley LLC. This certification presents Christina Motley LLC with the eligibility to bid on state government contracts. Her company can be found in the Statewide Uniform Certification (SWUC) program's searchable database.

"We are pleased to be a member of the HUB certified business community and look forward to establishing strategic and mutually beneficial business relationships. This certification is a building block in our strategic plan of growth," said Ms. Motley. The entrepreneur moved her business to North Carolina after selling her successful advertising firm in Virginia. "I am proud my company has helped rank North Carolina third in the growth of women-owned firms over the last 17 years."

According to the 2013 report from American Express OPEN, North Carolina women own 267,800 companies that employ 268,300 workers and generate $35.9 billion in annual sales. Per the report, the number of women-owned businesses nationwide has increased 68 percent since 1997, and North Carolina has outpaced that rate with 91 percent growth over the same period.

The Statewide Uniform Certification program was launched in July of 2009. SWUC was developed to streamline the certification process and reduce redundancy in certifying minority and women-owned businesses, as well as to create a centralized HUB and minority/women business database. The mission of the HUB Office is to promote economic opportunities for historically underutilized businesses in state government contracting and procurement that will foster their growth and profitability.

In order for a firm to qualify as a Historically Underutilized Business, the company must be at least 51 percent owned, controlled and managed by one or more citizens or lawful permanent residents of the United States, who are considered Black, Hispanic, Asian American, American Indian, female, disabled or disadvantaged.

About The Office for Historically Underutilized Businesses

The HUB Office collaborates with local minority/women/small business (M/W/SBE) offices who offer assistance to certified HUB firms with identifying contract opportunities with state and local government.
