New Chief Executive Officer Appointed to Southern Nevada Chapter of the American Red Cross

    LAS VEGAS, NV, April 23, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Southern Nevada Chapter of the American Red Cross has named Scott Emerson the new Chief Executive Officer.

Scott Emerson has served 23 years with the American Red Cross with the first 12 years as a volunteer. His most recent position was Director of Service Delivery for the Southern Nevada Chapter.

"The Search Committee along with Pat Hoffmaster, West Divisional Vice-President of the American Red Cross, unanimously concurred on the selection of Scott Emerson as CEO", said Dan Bryant, Chairman of the Board for the Southern Nevada Chapter of the American Red Cross. "Scott's long Red Cross service and detailed understanding of chapter operations and fundraising make him an ideal candidate to continue to build upon the progress the chapter has made over the last few years."

During his career, he has served in several local, state and national leadership positions including two terms as Chapter Chair of the Henry County Chapter of the American Red Cross in Clinton, Missouri.
His career with the American Red Cross also includes Director of Emergency Services for the Greater Ozarks Chapter in Springfield, Missouri, Senior Associate for Response for National Headquarters in Las Vegas, Director of Emergency Services for the Southern Nevada Chapter and most recently as Director of Service Delivery for the Southern Nevada Chapter.

Scott Emerson has also served on numerous disaster relief operations including September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in New York City, Kosovo refugee during the Balkan crisis in 1999 and Hurricane Katrina. He is an advanced level disaster instructor trainer and is a Certified Emergency Manager through the International Association of Emergency Managers.

Scott is the recipient of several awards including the Clara Barton Honor Award for Meritorious Volunteer Leadership (the highest volunteer leadership Award in the American Red Cross) and Spirit of Excellence for Direct Service Beyond the Chapter. He is a recent graduate of the Non-Profit Management Certificate program; a partnership between the United Way of Southern Nevada and the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.
