/24-7PressRelease/ - DALLAS, TX, December 15, 2006 - "Vegas has a reputation for weddings, but on September 23rd it was the site of a birth," explains Ron Sturgeon, newly-elected Chairman of the Exotic Auto Rental Association and owner of
DFW ELITE Auto Rental.com. A group of 12 forward-looking exotic auto rental agency owners and entrepreneurs gathered in Vegas and formed a new industry association.
Pooling marketing resources and expanding opportunities for one of the fastest-growing segments of the U.S. automotive rental business were both on the minds of the businesspeople in attendance. As a result, the first order of business for the new association will be a web marketing initiative from the association's home on the web,
www.exoticautorentalassoc.com.
Sturgeon and the other executives are encouraged by the turnout for the inaugural meeting. "We estimate there are only 40 true exotic auto rental agencies in the U.S., so the turnout is about 25% of the whole industry," offers Sturgeon.
At the meeting, founding members of the association created bylaws, a dues structure, elected officers and managers, and specified standards for membership, along with many other necessary details. In his role as newly-elected chairman, Sturgeon outlined an agenda that focused on safeguarding the quality of the exotic car rental experience: "The industry needs more structure, including standards for agencies to assure consumers of a quality experience every time they rent."
John Killand, long-time owner of
Rent A Vette in Las Vegas, and one of the pioneers in the industry described association goals in similar terms: "It's really important that our renters who tend to be middle- and upper-class to affluent individuals learn about us, and then have a good experience as they deal with us." Killand was elected to serve as secretary for the group. "We applaud those who demonstrated their commitment to our industry by attending," said Killand, "and we invite the agencies who were not here this time to come to our next meeting."
The exotic auto rental industry needs more exposure, and is highly fragmented, according to Shane Atwood, owner of
Precious Metals Cars, a fairly new agency located in Savannah Georgia. "We believe an association like this will allow us to pool resources, and educate consumers about the availability of these services." The new association tapped Shane to serve as manager.
Sturgeon brings a unique energy to the formation of the association, as he founded an association in the last industry he was active in, the auto recycling industry. That association,
United Recyclers Group, grew to over 250 members, raised over $4 million in capital, and revolutionized the industry by creating a new computer management system to replace the two legacy systems then offered to recyclers.
In addition, Fedor Suica from
Showcase Exotic Rentals in Newport Beach, CA was elected as Treasurer, and Moe Mustafa, owner of
Chicago Exotic Car Rentals., was also elected manager. For additional information contact
