/24-7PressRelease/ - December 08, 2007 - The company plans to help improve the indoor air quality of the homes and businesses in central Indiana, as well as help them save money on their energy costs this season.

With winter approaching, people will spend much more time indoors, and thus breathe in the same air as the day before. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, indoor air may be 100 times more polluted than outdoor air.

"We breathe more air pound-wise per day than we eat or drink," said Hoosier Air Solutions co-owner Dana Lewis. Lewis started the business with his mother, Marnie Logan, after moving to Indianapolis from New York. "A clean air duct system may make a difference in the indoor air quality, and may help people stay healthier during this year's cold and flu season."

Hoosier Air Solutions offers a no-cost video inspection so that customers can see live computer footage of just what is inside their air ducts. This process also helps determine whether the customer is a candidate for the company's air duct cleaning service. Aside from the typical dirt, dust and lint, a few of the more unusual items Lewis' team has found inside customers' air ducts include bird's nests, beehives and even mouse droppings.

According to Lewis, proper filtration may also help improve indoor air quality. He said most standard air filters in residential homes are only about 5 to 10 percent efficient. As part of his company's air duct cleaning service, Hoosier Air Solutions offers affordable, 94 percent efficient electrostatic air filters that never need replacing.

Some of the other services Hoosier Air Solutions offers include a decontamination service and a UV air purification service, to help remove additional particles or substances such as mold and bacteria that standard air filters may not catch.

The company has also found that dryer vent fires occur more often during the winter season, with the extra and heavier loads of laundry. The Consumer Product Safety Commission estimates that more than 15,000 dryer-related fires occur every year. Hoosier Air Solutions' dryer vent cleaning service not only helps prevent dryer-related fires, but may improve the efficiency of dryers and save on energy costs too.

"Many people assume that if their clothes are taking longer than expected to dry, this means their dryer is faulty and they need a new one, but actually, they may just have a clogged dryer vent," said Lewis.

The company has been working on getting the word out about indoor air quality, pricing its services affordably so that even lower to middle-class homes can have their air ducts and dryer vents cleaned.
