New Independent Music Label, Audio Tree, Plants Roots in Chicago

Audio Tree has a mission to cultivate good music with unique approach to handling artists.

CHICAGO, IL, February 14, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Adding to Chicago's rich and extensive music scene and its overall need, a new record label including a team of dynamic indies, Audio Tree, has planted seeds to create a unique label with an innovative and fresh alternative to how labels work with artists. The multi-genre label is building its label model as an artist's services music company that provides an a la carte menu for artists to select what they need in order for them to cater to their needs and get their music heard. The company's mission is to work with artists from various backgrounds to push good music to the forefront where it belongs. Empowered by various partners within the music scene, Audio Tree is able to provide their artists with an extensive network of resources to assist them on their journey, as well as provide them with a hands-on approach and independent feel. This past winter, Audio Tree signed its first music artist, Kellen & Me.

On March 10th, Audio Tree Music will celebrate its official launch as it hosts a concert with headliner and Atlantic recording artist Portugal. The Man, as well as Audio Tree Music signed artist, Kellen & Me, and Chicago-based folk group theSoil and theSun. This live concert will take place at one of Chicago's premiere music venues, Lincoln Hall, and will run from 7pm - midnight. Tickets are available at Audio Tree's website, www.audiotreemusic.com.

In addition to being a label, Audio Tree also hosts weekly live sessions with artists titled "Audio Tree Live" that stream music live via their website on multiple days during the week. The live sessions, that began this past fall, last 30-40 minutes long, and include behind-the-scenes access with the artists as they iterate their process of creating music and the inspiration behind it, as well as a dose of great live music. The Audio Tree Live sessions are set up similar to the recognizable NPR format with the witty and level voice of Audio Tree Live's own Evil Vince serving as the host and narrator for the show. They've had local and national artists and bands showcase their music on the live sessions such as Rubblebucket, Erik Hall, theSoil & theSun, Kellen & Me, The Shams Band, Nathan Xander & Witchouse, and Frenando Jones. The sessions are currently streamed in audio, but Audio Tree looks to incorporate video in the near future (stay tuned!). The sessions are streamed via Audio Tree's site at www.audiotreemusic.com/audiotree_live.html.

About Audio Tree:

Audio Tree is a music company that encompasses multiple label support services in order to build and sustain the growth and success of both the artist and the Audio Tree label. Audio Tree is involved in and execute everything from artist management, recording and streaming live Internet broadcast sessions, merchandising, signing new artists and licensing/publishing. The Audio Tree team is an assemblage of talented people in the industry including Michael Johnston (founder of Audio Tree), Adam Thurston and Chris May, as well as advisers Ira Antelis and Chris Watkins. The entire team is immersed in music and wants to channel their passion and resources to positively impact the lives of artists and all the various communities they serve. Through strong relationships and philanthropic partnerships, Audio Tree will communicate their vision to a large audience of music lovers; through traditional and nontraditional platforms incessantly keeping in mind their goal is to help artists achieve their full potential.

About Kellen & Me - Audio Tree's first artist plays an electro-folk-tapeloop-rock, promising to be refreshing to all ears. Kellen & Me is a one-man musical experience that has a sound larger than one man. The artist's main responsibilities are crafting and performing songs, as well as handling all the food and liquor purchases for his entire operation. Prior to the conceptualization of KELLEN & ME, Kellen worked in the monkey pits as an electro-spectomatrist and as a window washer in his hometown of Chicago during the dead of winter (which he claims is enough to make a grown man cry). Currently, the final elements are being applied to Kellen's first, full-length album release. Kellen's new LP will erase your numbness to music when it unveiled in the Spring of 2011.
