New Online Brokerage Ruffles Feathers In Insurance Industry

Atlantic Canada's first and only 100% online insurance brokerage, Cheep Insurance, launched last month.

DARTMOUTH, NS, July 29, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Cheep Insurance, Nova Scotia's first and only 100% online insurance brokerage, launched just over a month ago on June 13, 2016. The brand new brokerage has been ruffling feathers in the insurance industry since opening for business.

As the only brokerage of its kind in Atlantic Canada, Cheep Insurance does things a little differently than your traditional broker. With the convenience of online quoting, eSignatures, and a mobile app, the new brokerage aims to simplify the insurance experience for today's busy, modern consumer.

"For a lot of people, insurance can be a hassle" said Jennifer Jackson, who headed up the company's launch. "So we created a business model that simplifies the entire process - from comparing quotes to binding coverage to accessing your policy and filing claims."

Cheep Insurance has an online quoting system that allows Nova Scotians to instantly compare insurance prices from their smartphones or computers. Coverage can be bound over the phone with one of the company's licensed insurance brokers who will review the policy and answer any questions clients may have. Instead of driving all the way to a broker's office to sign the paperwork, clients can simply use their finger to sign on the touchscreen of their phone.

Once a client comes on board, they're able to access their policy, download electronic pink cards, request policy changes, and file claims right through the Cheep Insurance website. They also have access to Cheep Insurance Mobile, a mobile app for smartphones and tablets. It's very self-serve oriented, so clients don't have to worry about getting a hold of a broker if they need to make a policy change or file a claim.

Most traditional bricks-and-mortar brokerages close at 4:30 or 5pm on weekdays and have limited availability - if any - on weekends. Cheep Insurance has brokers available on evenings and weekends, and their online platform is great for on-the-go Nova Scotians who are looking for self-serve tools and 24/7 access.

"The digital brokerage is the way of the future" says Gavin Lobo, AVP Marketing at Aviva Canada, one of the country's leading providers of property and casualty insurance. The digital consultancy team at Aviva Canada has been working closely with Cheep Insurance throughout their launch.

Although the online insurance brokerage model is new to Atlantic Canada, Cheep Insurance is building up a solid book of business and clients are delighted by how easy the whole process is.
