TORONTO, ON, February 17, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The George Brown College Centre for Continuous Learning is pleased to announce the launch of The Robotics Technician Certificate, our newest and most advanced online robotics training program.

The Robotics Technician Certificate is a computer-based home study program that enables students to study at their own pace, remotely from their own homes, using DVD-based curriculum, a robotic simulator and a traditional textbook to master the emerging technology of robotics in manufacturing. Continuous (open) enrollment, pay-as-you-learn registration, online exams and telephone/email/forum-based tutorial support provide an adaptable learning environment for people whose busy work and family lives demand a more flexible approach to training than that used in traditional full-time or part-time programs.

This robotics education program provides students with a complete introduction to applied robotics, with its main focus being on the role of robots in manufacturing systems. The program prepares students to install, program, maintain, repair, and manage industrial robotics systems. Some specific areas of study include vision and tactile sensors, motion programming, safety, palletizing, conveyor systems, automated sorting systems, computer networking, computer integration and artificial intelligence.

The program curriculum integrates text, video, animations, photos, audio clips and the interactive robotics simulator, RoboLogix. By using RoboLogix, students have access to a fully-functioning industrial robot which allows them to program, test, and troubleshoot robots in a realistic 3D simulated environment. Multimedia content, robotic system simulations, interactive exercises and the online student support centre prepare students for computer-based final exams at the end of each of 13 modules. The average time required to complete the program is approximately 28 weeks of part-time study.

A world-leader in distance education, George Brown offers award-winning online technical training in Electronics, Electromechanical, and Programmable Logic Controllers. The Centre for Continuous Learning provides distance education- based technical training to over 12,000 registered students, located all around the world.
