New Openings in London in July 2013

The former Olympic Park re-opens with a celebratory festival.

LONDON, ENGLAND, July 01, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- July 2013 will see the official re-opening of the former Olympic Park, the most high profile opening of the summer will be marked by the London Anniversary Games (26th to 28th July) at the Olympic Stadium and by the official re-opening of the North Park on Saturday 27th July 2013, exactly one year after the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony.

The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park - which officially opens with the Open East Festival (27th & 28th July), a celebratory weekend of live music, literature, food and art presented by the Barbican Centre - is just one of the significant London venues to open in July 2013. The flagship branch of the Imperial War Museum also re-opens this month following a six-month closure with three new exhibitions all beginning on Monday 29th July 2013.

Note-worthy new London restaurants due to launch in July 2013 include Aqua at the Shard, on the 31st floor of the tallest building in western Europe which is expected to open on Monday 1st July. On the same day Paesan opens its doors in Exmouth Market, east London, while in west London award-winning chef Luis Baena opens Notting Hill Kitchen, specialising in modern Portuguese and Spanish cuisine, on the former site of Notting Hill Brasserie. Soho House's Nick Jones will be hoping to repeat the success of his Electric Diner in Notting Hill with the Soho Diner on the Old Compton Street site of his Boheme Kitchen and Bar.

The fourth of July is a significant date in the American calendar and one that several American restaurants have chosen as the launch date of their London restaurants. Five Guys, at 1 Long Acre, and Joe's Southern Kitchen and Bar, on 34 King Street, both in London's Covent Garden, have both chosen that day to open their doors. Meanwhile Shake Shack London opens the following day, also offering American style dining in Covent Garden.

Burgers are the mainstay of Honest Burgers who open their third London outlet in July, following the successes of their Brixton and Soho branches with an outlet in Camden Lock Market. And Tommi's Burger Joint, from Icelandic restaurateur Tomas 'Tommi' Tomasson, opens at 30 Thayer Street, Marylebone at the end of July.

Turning from a temporary home at Berwick Street market to a permanent place around the corner at 11-12 Dean Street, Soho, Pizza Pilgrims James and Thom Elliot offer Londoners Napoli-style pizzas from mid-July.

Also in Soho, Flesh and Buns opens on Earlham Street in mid-July. The second London opening from chef proprietor Ross Shonhan who brought us the ever-popular ramen restaurant Bone Daddies, Flesh and Buns is a laid back Japanese 140 cover restaurant offering folded steamed buns with a rock soundtrack that fans of Bone Daddies will recognise.

Just in time for the warmer summer months, the cafe chain Benugo opens Lincoln's Inn Bar and Kitchen, in the historic gardens in the heart of London's legal district. Benugo already has proven form in running restaurants in parks with the Serpentine Bar and Kitchen in Hyde Park. The Lincoln's Inn Fields venue will have space for 64 diners inside and 24 outdoors when it opens this July.
