/24-7PressRelease/ - MARLTON, NJ, October 18, 2007 - Dr. Evan Sorokin, medical director of Delaware Valley Plastic Surgery, has added SmartLipoTM, a laser liposuction device manufactured by Cynosure, Inc., to his New Jersey plastic surgery practice. As part of his commitment to provide his patients with the latest techniques and technologies, he is the first cosmetic surgeon to offer SmartLipo laser liposuction in Southern New Jersey.
SmartLipo laser body sculpting is a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved alternative to traditional liposuction methods. By using laser energy to separate fat from surrounding tissue, SmartLipo can selectively sculpt a treatment area, resulting in a more tailored treatment in many cases. The procedure is ideal for patients who have smaller pockets of fat, and can be used to contour any area where unwanted fat develops, such as the stomach, waist, thighs, or upper arms.
"My patients are seeing fantastic results with SmartLipo treatments," says Dr. Sorokin. "For people who have small areas of stubborn fat, this procedure is a much less invasive alternative to traditional liposuction. New Jersey and Philadelphia SmartLipo patients experience less discomfort and have less risk of complications because I'm able to perform careful sculpting with minimal disruption of surrounding tissue."
SmartLipo is a recent addition to the other liposuction methods offered by Dr. Sorokin. He also performs power-assisted and ultrasonic-assisted liposuction plastic surgery in New Jersey. Power-assisted liposuction (PAL) involves use of a suction tube (known as a cannula) that vibrates at high speed to loosen deposits of fat, making them easier to remove. Dr. Sorokin performs PAL using a tumescent technique to prepare and desensitize the fat tissue before removal. The cannula's high speed vibration makes for a safer procedure and quicker recovery as compared to traditional liposuction.
"PAL is a good choice for patients with fat deposits too large for the SmartLipo procedure," adds Dr. Sorokin. "Studies have shown that power-assisted liposuction can be completed in less time with fewer complications arising than the traditional method."
In addition to PAL, Dr. Sorokin also offers ultrasonic-assisted liposuction in New Jersey. With this method, ultrasonic sound waves are directed into the treatment area, rupturing fat cells and making them easier to remove. Dr. Sorokin often uses this method for more fibrous areas of fat. He also performs suction-assisted liposuction (SAL) for some patients.
"During consultations, I thoroughly evaluate each patient and discuss with them which liposuction method is best to help them achieve their surgical goals," says Dr. Sorokin. "Now that I offer SmartLipo in addition to the more established methods, I can perform body contouring for almost anyone who needs it, and can easily add liposuction to other New Jersey plastic surgery procedures, such as breast reduction, facelift, or abdominoplasty."
