DALLAS, TX, November 26, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A new 12-month review study now demonstrates a safe and effective "mini-sling" treatment for urinary incontinence in women. Data from the study, published in the August 2010 issue of the Journal of Urology, showed excellent patient tolerability, quick return to normal activities, and potential for in-office placement.

David Fein M.D., F.A.C.O.G., a practicing gynecologist at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, observes that one in three women over the age of 45 will report symptoms of urinary incontinence, exceeding, in some estimates, over 25 million women in the United States. Dr. Fein notes, "Many women will suffer in silence, as they believe that these symptoms are simply a normal part of aging."

"The 12-month review looked at the efficacy of the Mini-Arc vaginal sling," said Dr. Fein. "This small, mesh sling is placed under the urethra through a single, small incision with no abdominal or groin incisions and no needles passing through the groin or abdomen. The patients reported significant improvement in their incontinence with minimal pain. Many patients returned to work within a day or two."

About Dr. David Fein
Dr. Fein offers treatment for female incontinence and has substantial experience in placing the Mini-Arc vaginal sling. He provides out-patient surgery services in the Women's Specialty Surgery Center located on the Presbyterian Hospital Campus.
