New Smartphone App Provides Mobile Nurse at Your Side 24/7

Physicians Plus Insurance Corporation launches mobile application to help people diagnose illnesses.

MADISON, WI, August 25, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Imagine waking up in the middle of the night with a sick child. He has a rash, severe cough and nausea. What does he have that is making him sick? What is the best course of action? You may not know, but your MobileNurse can help.

Physicians Plus Insurance Corporation, based in Madison, Wisconsin, is proud to announce the launch of a mobile application for smart phones that can be used to diagnose what to do in a range of medical situations. The application, called MobileNurse, is the first of its kind to be offered by a health plan in the Midwest and the State of Wisconsin; it is the second application nationwide to be offered by a health plan.

About Mobile Nurse
Launching in August of 2011, MobileNurse will be available to everyone - not just members of Physicians Plus. The free application will help users determine what illness they may be suffering from and if that illness is severe enough to warrant a trip to the emergency room or urgent care location.

How it Helps
MobileNurse will help patients understand their health situation, help them find emergency and urgent care facilities when they are traveling, and help to provide better, faster service in emergency rooms and urgent care facilities. Not only will the patient experience be improved, but there will be better health care available to everyone, even if they don't have to visit the hospital.

"This will help to fill a need for people who are new to the area, people who are traveling, and parents - all of whom are looking for answers to the symptoms they are observing and where to find needed medical care," said Steve Sorenson, director of marketing and product innovation at Physicians Plus. "We're very excited to be offering this next level of care to the entire community."

App Feedback
Three hospitals and one health plan are already using the MobileNurse application, but under different names:

- Care First - Maryland
- Kid Care - St. Louis Children's Hospital
- ChildrensMD - Childrens Hospital of Colorado
- Kids Symptom Checker - Swedish Hospitals of Seattle

The application has also been receiving high marks from insurance agents and others in the health care field. In addition, CNET, a leader in technology product reviews and news, has even called it one of the five must have applications for parents.

How To Get It
MobileNurse will be available after August 22nd, 2011 for iPhone users by downloading the application. An Android phone version of MobileNurse will be available shortly. For more details on the application, the public is encouraged to visit www.pplusic.com.
