Exploring human potential has always been a passion for CHICK creator and star Kai Soremekun. When deciding what her next project would be, Kai found herself constantly being led back to the idea of a story centered around a superhero; a character who was accessible and inspired the audience to dream big in their own lives.
CHICK is a comic drama that uses the superhero as a metaphor for exploring human potential. Hidden somewhere in the urban jungle of Los Angeles there is thought to be a secret academy where regular people can train to become superheroes. The web series follows the adventures of Lisa, a woman disillusioned with her life, as she sets out on a quest to realize what she believes is her destiny; to become a superhero.
"As I was developing CHICK I became fascinated with the internet." says Kai Soremekun, "I loved the power it gave me as a storyteller to connect with and develop a direct relationship, with my audience." CHICK is a multi-platform interactive web series in which the participants choose how deeply they would like to immerse themselves into the story world. CHICKSPIRIT.com in conjunction with Viral Narrative, has created an Alternate Reality Game (ARG), Punk the Dress, where players can interact with characters from the extended CHICK Universe through contact points including in-game forums, video blogs, a web comic and a live event. Kai Soremekun is an award-winning director/producer who received national exposure when she was chosen by Steven Spielberg, from a pool of 12,000 filmmakers, to participate in the FOX reality competition On The Lot.
