New Year's Resolutions: Is "Wealth" The New "Health"
=======================================================
/24-7PressRelease/ - January 26, 2006 - It's the start of another New Year and the usual flurry of adverts for celebrity endorsed "fitness" products bombard
our TV sets. But are we literally getting fed up with trying to be in shape physically, while financially we're in ruins?
THE BIG QUESTION
BookShaker.com decided to celebrate its first year in business by giving away a free book to would-be New Year's Resolution Setters.
Available to download from the Bookshaker.com website, the contact form also contains a simple question...
"What's Your One Wish For 2006?"
The answers were illuminating...
- 37% of respondents have financial goals - including business success, getting out of debt and becoming financially free
- 23% are looking for love, happiness and spiritual fulfillment
- 11% want to write a book
- 9% want to improve their health and fitness
- 8% want to move house
- 3% have very specific goals: mostly to improve the world for others
- the rest aren't really sure, or don't want to share!
WE KNOW WHAT WE WANT OUR WHOLE LIFE TO BE ABOUT
BookShaker.com founder, Debbie Jenkins, says: "I think this is just a sign that our customers really know what they want their 'whole life' to be about rather than just individual elements. This doesn't necessarily mean that they don't value health; it's just that the size of their bum or belly isn't as important as having the right lifestyle and someone special to share it with. Obviously, these findings will help us in choosing books to publish in 2006."
IT'S MORE ABOUT THE SIZE OF OUR ASSETS
Not everyone is surprised that the size of our bank balance is more important these days than the size of our pants.
Wealth coach and author of the book, Money Gym, Nicola Cairncross, says: "These findings come as no surprise to me. People are realising that having money worries and working all hours just to make ends meet can be a big driver behind their other 'bad habits'. So by getting their life in order financially they'll have fewer money worries and also free up more time to look after their health."
A RECIPE FOR DISASTER
Is being focused on material things and ignoring our health something to worry about though? Personal trainer and author of, FBI: The Fit Body Initiative, Steve Halls, thinks so: "Too many people put material success above their health these days - but I always say, 'what's the point in having all these things if you're not around long enough to enjoy them?' Don't get me wrong: I'm all for people getting everything they want and more - you just need to ensure that
you look after that precious machine you've been given in the process."
