New York City Construction Accident Attorney
NEW YORK, NY, February 04, 2012
/24-7PressRelease/ -- A scaffold collapsed on a 4-year-old girl on her way to an Upper East Side school. She was hit by a wood plank, but escaped the New York scaffold collapse with only minor injuries, reported the
New York Post (1/25/2012).
"The undeniable lesson New Yorkers can learn away from this incident is that a scaffold collapse doesn't only put construction workers at risk," said New York construction accident lawyer Perecman.
According to the
New York Post, construction workers were removing scaffolding in front of a building on 75th Street when the wood fell and hit the child, knocking her to the ground.
Following the
construction accident, the New York girl visited a doctor and was found to have only a bruise on her shoulder, the
New York Post reported.
"Most
scaffold accidents in New York can be completely avoided through effective safety measures, including training and prevention," said
construction accident lawyer Perecman, the former head New York construction accident lawyer for the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, and a lecturer on construction accident law.
In a Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS) study, 72% of construction workers injured in scaffold accidents attributed the accident either to the planking or support giving way, or to the employee slipping or being struck by a falling object.
"Builders have paid significant penalties for failing to ensure that pedestrians are safe while walking under scaffolds in New York," construction accident lawyer Perecman, said. "Scaffolding is meant to protect pedestrians from falling objects. Not fall on them."
The expert New York construction accident lawyers at The Perecman Firm have helped many people obtain compensation following New York construction accidents, including construction workers, pedestrians, and others who have been injured due to unsafe scaffolding or falling objects in a construction zone.
