/24-7PressRelease.com/ - New Hampshire-based members of Cambridge Art Association were recently accepted into "Blue", the organization's regional juried exhibition. The show was open to entrants from around New England working in all media and all styles. Each artist interpreted the theme "blue" -- as a color, idea, metaphor, or hue -- according to his or her own personal vision. The show was juried by Rachel Rosenfield Lafo, Director of Curatorial Affairs for the DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park (Lincoln, MA).
Accepted area artists include:
-- Tim Christensen-Kirby (www.muddybirdpottery.com), of Milton, NH. Tim is an award winning potter and sculptor with a history of success at the Cambridge Art Association: he successfully juried into the organization’s 2003 National Prize Show, a prestigious event which attracted more than 4,000 entries from across the country. Tim had two clay pieces accepted into “Blue”.
-- Lynne Guimond Findlay (www.freewebs.com/lgfindlay), of Merrimack, NH. Lynne is an award-winning photographer specializing in travel and fine art images. This is her first juried show with Cambridge Art; however, she also recently delivered two works to the organization for a permanent “$200 and Under” art fair. Lynne’s photo “Serenity II” was accepted for the “Blue” show.
“I was impressed by the variety of artwork submitted for the Cambridge Art Association’s “Blue” exhibition,” said Ms. Rosenfeld Lafo. “There were works in all media, many blue in color, and others blue in mood or theme. As I looked through more than 600 entries, what struck me was that artists from New England continue to work in both traditional media such as painting, printmaking, and carving, as well as experimenting with newer technologies such as various forms of digital printmaking. The range of work submitted reflects the pluralistic state of art making today, and indicates that New England artists are very much in tune with what is happening in other parts of the world.”
"Blue" will be hung in the University Place Gallery in Harvard Square and will run from November 18, 2004 to January 3, 2005. An opening reception will be held at the gallery on Friday, December 3, from 6-8PM.
