WASHINGTON, DC, January 11, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Nicaragua was recently featured in the World's Top 10 Retirement Havens for 2013, published by the Huffington Post. According to the article, Granada, one of the country's tourism hotspots, was ranked number 8 among the best, the most comfortable, the most affordable, the most convenient, and the most rewarding spots worldwide for retirement in 2013.

Kathleen Peddicord, Publisher of Live and Invest Oversees, mentioned that "geographically, Nicaragua is blessed, with two long coastlines and two big lakes, plus volcanoes, highlands, rain forest and rivers", adding that in this regard "it's got everything Costa Rica and Panama have got, all less discovered and developed and available for the adventurer and eco-traveler at bargain rates".

Nicaragua has been a trending topic among various international media in 2013, as it was also featured in International Living as one of the top 22 retirement destinations in the world in its 2013 Retirement Index. The ranking that placed the country in the 12th position, took into consideration eight crucial categories: real estate, special retirement benefits, cost of living, ease of integration, entertainment and amenities, health care, retirement infrastructure and climate.

Additionally, NBC's Today Show named Nicaragua one of the hottest travel destinations for this year. Kate Maxwell, Editor in Chief of the travel website Jetsetter.com, during her interview with the Today Show, highlighted the country's many natural unspoiled resources, cheap prices and safety.

The country not only offers an excellent quality of life, but also tranquility and peace of mind to visitors. A recent poll by CID Gallup Latin America showcases Nicaragua as the Central American country with the lowest levels of criminality in the region, including Panama and the Dominican Republic. This poll comes to confirm the high levels of safety in Nicaragua that have been recognized by institutions such as the Economist Intelligence Unit in its 2012 Security Risk Report, ranking the country among the safest in Latin America. Nicaragua also holds the lowest homicide rates in Central America in 2011, 12 for every 100,000 inhabitants, well below the Latin American average of 26, according to the United Nations.
