MANAGUA, NICARAGUA, October 19, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/
-- The Government of Nicaragua and the Superior Council of the Private Enterprise (COSEP, for its acronym in Spanish), will be organizing during November a series of business forums in some of Europe's main cities to promote investment and trade opportunities with Nicaragua in the framework of the recently signed Association Agreement (AdA, for its acronym in Spanish) between Central America and the European Union.
A high-level, public-private delegation led by PRONicaragua, the official investment and export promotion agency, will participate in the forums and will be composed of cabinet ministers and business leaders.
The activities will take place during November 14th, 20th and 22nd in the cities of Madrid, Paris and Hamburg, respectively, and will have the support of the diplomatic representations of Nicaragua in the countries to be visited, in alliance with local business associations.
The main objective of this initiative is to promote and position Nicaragua as an ideal destination for foreign investment and as a provider of high-quality products for Europe, in order to increase economic exchange with the region.
"We are going to present the trade opportunities Nicaragua offers to the European Union. We consider there is a great potential for business with this region and that we can mutually benefit in terms of trade and investment, especially within the framework of the Association Agreement we recently signed", commented General Alvaro Baltodano, Presidential Delegate for Investments of the Government of Nicaragua.
Some of the topics that will be covered during the event include the country's economic development of recent years, strategic country projects, security indexes and social peace, transformation of the energy sector, benefits of the AdA, investment and trade opportunities in Nicaragua, the government and private sector alliance, and success stories of European companies in Nicaragua. Also, the forum will offer a space for bilateral meetings between European and Nicaraguan companies in order to encourage business between the countries.
Approximately 100 company representatives are expected to participate in each forum with interest in exploring new destinations to expand their operations and build business relations with Nicaraguan companies.
The European Union comprises 28 countries that together represent a market of more than 500 million people and approximately 20 percent of the world's gross domestic product. In 2012, Nicaragua exported around US$314 million to Europe, 15 percent more than the US$274 million in 2011, according to the Central Bank of Nicaragua.
