/24-7PressRelease/ - LAKE PLACID, NY, June 30, 2008 - Research has shown that entrepreneurs self-direct their careers and lives dynamically and with a long-term fluidity. This characteristic of the entrepreneurial mindset aligns well with the process it takes to become a successful self-employed person in a niche market, said Susan Friedmann, CSP, the niche marketing expert who created her own niche as The Trade Show Coach. Author of "Riches in Niches: How to Make it BIG in a small Market," Friedmann has made it her mission to help the self-employed find success as Nichepreneurs (TM), a term she has coined for entrepreneurs who establish lucrative businesses in niche markets.

"The sole proprietor's mindset lends itself well to the dynamic career path that 'nichepreneurism' offers," said Friedmann, CSP (Certified Speaking Professional). "After all, sole proprietorship in a niche market is a challenge like no other, and entrepreneurs respond positively to this when they see and understand it. The key, then, is to introduce them to 'nichepreneurism' as a dynamic path that holds the promise of many rewards over the entire course of their careers."

Author of "Meeting and Event Planning for Dummies," Friedmann, now The Nichepreneur Coach, has turned her expertise to niche marketing for entrepreneurs. In her new book, "Riches in Niches: How to Make it BIG in a small Market," Friedmann shares the concepts that have enabled her to become a tradeshow marketing expert, a sought-after maven in her own niche who presents workshops at some of the most recognizable Fortune 500 corporations.

According to survey data shared in an October 2007 issue of the Journal of Applied Management and Entrepreneurship, entrepreneurs view themselves differently than their non-entrepreneurial peers do, and generally approach career and life itself dynamically and with a long-term fluidity.

Specifically, entrepreneurs are more likely to "[consider] themselves career mavericks, [make] their own creative career paths, and [plan] for proactive career change," revealed the associated study by researchers at Ohio State University, the University of Missouri, Yale University and Cranfield School of Management.

Additionally, the research indicated, pursuing challenges (83 percent) and making money (55 percent) are primary motivators for the self-employed in the early stages of entrepreneurship. Over time, the researchers noted, family balance and other factors grow in importance to entrepreneurs and coincide with a leveling off of early-stage motivators.

"There's nothing at once more challenging, trailblazing, and ultimately life-balancing than self employment," said Friedmann. "And the best way to excel at founding a business that yields significant rewards of all kinds is to start one in a lucrative niche. 'Riches in Niches: How to Make it BIG in a small Market' provides entrepreneurs, motivated by challenges and the prospect of making money that eventually allows them to devote time to family, with the road map they need to set goals and find financial freedom as self-employed people."

Friedmann advised "nichepreneurs" to follow her GEL Formula, a process for success described in "Riches in Niches: How to Make it BIG in a small Market." Those who follow the GEL Formula (Growing-Experience-Love) first look for markets that are "Growing." They then focus on their existing "Experience." After matching that existing experience with the growing markets calling for it, they finally make a decision on what to pursue by considering what they "Love."
