/24-7PressRelease/ - Port Charlotte, FL, June 1, 2008, Nickie Sherwood, Realtor for Professional Realty of SW Florida, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in real estate.

Ms. Sherwood first became involved in real estate in the New York/New Jersey markets in the late 1980's, prompted by her empathy for battered women and their children. She realized that many such women were living in government-subsidized shelters and were in desperate need of housing. Now, she is a recognized expert in obtaining housing for the abused and the less fortunate; known especially for her ability to assist low-income families in obtaining grants, she finds deep personal fulfillment in helping firemen, police officers, teachers and blue-collar workers purchase their first homes. She attributes her success in these endeavors to her persistence.

A graduate of Rockland Community College, Ms. Sherwood earned her Associate's Degree in Restaurant Management in 1991. While in the hospitality field, she became involved in "Jail & Bail," a successful fund-raiser for numerous charities. Upon moving to Florida in 2004, however, she decided to forego a career in hospitality to again pursue her love of real estate. After completing the necessary courses and passing the state exam, she joined the office of Professional Realty in 2007, where she is again helping the less fortunate obtain housing. She is currently affiliated with the National Association of Realtors and looks forward to pursuing her GRI certification in the near future.
