BRIDGEWATER, NJ, September 17, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Taking Care of Your Parents: Heartfelt Advice from the Experts

The Center for Life Transitions is pleased to partner with community minded experts like the Somerset County Office on Aging and Disability Services, to offer a series of free workshops where leading elder care experts will offer insights and answers to seniors and their families regarding legal, personal and social matters. "The Somerset County Office on Aging & Disability Services recognizes the need to support caregivers as they are the anchor to assisting their loved ones in remaining in the community with the best quality of life possible.  We welcome our new relationship with the Center for Life Transitions and value our continued relationship with the Community Visiting Nurse Association [another sponsor] as we all support caregivers," explains Joanne C. Fetzko, Executive Director.

These free workshops, to be held Tuesday evenings from 7-8:30 PM, starting October 5 through November 17, will feature leading area experts, including staff from the Somerset County Office on Aging and Disability Services, like Kelly Finnegan, who brings over 13 years of experience working with seniors and their caregivers to her talk, Planning Ahead for Your Own Senior Years. Kelly will speak to the pitfalls of not planning for the future, and help participants learn to be more proactive in planning their own senior care. Likewise, as the elder care educator for the Somerset County Office on Aging, Laurie Rowe will address the common and complex challenges seniors experience in her workshop Safeguarding the Elderly. Laurie's expertise includes helping seniors and their families learn strategies to remain safe from scams and online predators without having to live in fear.

"The workshop topics are issues we hear people experiencing every day.  It's important to see them addressed," explains Alyce Brophy, President and CEO of Community Visiting Nurse Association. The advice and expertise being offered in all of the workshops is not just for the caretakers, but for those who are being taken care of, as senior care is a family affair. Additional featured experts include elder care lawyers, authors, nurses and educators who are all experienced workshop leaders and appreciate the fact that participants want to leave with an "action plan". They will be emphasizing step by step action plans, checklists and the like so people won't be wondering "what should I do now", and will leave knowing how to take the next steps. This is a valuable and efficient structure for distributing such important information.

While all of the workshops are free of charge, The Center for Life Transitions does request that participants reserve their spot as seating is limited. For a complete description of each of the seven workshops and to reserve your seat, please visit http://www.heartfeltstrategies.com or call (908) 203-0088.
