ESSEX, ENGLAND, April 19, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Since Royal Mail announced these price increases they have capped the number of stamps shops can buy to stop customers stockpiling ahead of the April 30th price increase. Some retailers are running low on supplies of stamps as customers are buying them in bulk before the price rise.

According to the BBC News website, a Royal Mail spokesman said this "prudent and appropriate" policy was designed to "protect revenue".

One optician told the BBC News website that he was planning to buy 10,000 stamps in advance of the price rise to prevent a "significant" increase in costs, as they send out over 5,000 reminder letters per year to their patients.

There is a cheaper alternative to stamps - franked mail!

There's no need for businesses to stockpile stamps. For businesses sending from 5 items of mail a day, a franking machine can be a cost effective alternative to stamps.

From 30th April, franking machine users receive a discount on every item of mail sent, saving 19p on every 2nd Class letter and 16p on every 1st Class letter. This means a 1st Class franked letter will be cheaper to send than a Second Class stamped letter.

No more wasting time queuing for stamps!

No need to waste time queuing to buy stamps. A franking machine can be re-credited online with postage 24/7.

Security

Storing large quantities of stamps can cause a security issue - using a franking machine is a more secure way to pay for your postage as it can be fully locked and PIN protected, so only authorised users can use it.

Streamline your business operation

Using a franking machine can streamline business by ensuring there are no disruptions to getting critical business mail out of the door. There is no risk of running out of stamps, cash flow can be improved and financial delays avoided.

Do only high volume users benefit from using a franking machine?

No; if you are sending more than 5 items of mail a day the postal savings will offset the rental and running costs of your franking machine, so you get all the benefits for free! These include:

Productivity

Calculating the right postage every time is easy.

Process Management

It's easy to monitor, track and control your post online - and order extra supplies at the click of a mouse.
