COVINGTON, KY, May 14, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Black-n-Bluegrass Roller Girls are excited to begin this year's home season as an Apprentice affiliate of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). BBRG joins the ranks of more than 100 all-female, skater-owned and operated leagues nationwide that have united to create the fastest-growing women's sport in the United States.

This season promises to be an exciting one for local roller derby fans, as each and every home bout is a double header. Fans will get to enjoy twice the blocks, twice the hits and twice the fishnets at the Florence Fundome in Florence. Each night of hard-hitting fun will start at 7 p.m., with entertainment between bouts.

The first home bout - in grand roller derby tradition - has a theme. Join Northern Kentucky's own Black-n-Bluegrass Roller Girls for "Mother, May I?" on May 22nd, where they will take on the Roller Girls of Central Kentucky and Vette City.

About Black-n-Bluegrass Roller Girls

BBRG was born in May of 2006, and after 18 months of growing and training, the girls completed their first full season in September of 2008. BBRG now fields two competitive teams, and play leagues throughout the Midwest.

BBRG is a skater-owned league that is operated by the skaters, for the skaters. The mission is to actively create and promote an environment that fosters physical and mental strength, and empowers the independent spirit of women in the sport of roller derby and the community at large. The league is and will remain deeply dedicated to the spirit of good sportswomanship and athleticism so as to bring honor and distinction to our league, women in the sport and the sport of women's flat track roller derby as a whole.
