In The Bar

The Chippewa River Lodge, a popular resort lodge on Wisconsin's Chippewa River, now looks and feels more luxurious than ever, thanks in part to a series of upgrades and renovations.
Recent additions include a vastly expanded deck overlooking the river, a brand-new gas fireplace in the bar, a brand-new septic system, and a fabulously redesigned kitchen.
The lodge, which owner David Pressley bought in 2004, sits on two acres of land near the Chippewa Flowage, an area widely renowned for fishing.
Most of the time,
the lodge is rented out to groups of people ranging from families, to hunters, to snowmobilers, to fishermen. When Pressley bought
the lodge, he was only interested in a second home and had no plan in renting it out. But as a businessman, he couldn't pass up the opportunity.
"It's such a unique place," said Pressley. "We get people from all over the country wanting to rent it out, and a lot of them make reservations for the next year as soon as they leave."
With a spacious yard, two fire pits, kayaks, a canoe, a bar, a game room, and sleeping accommodations for up to 28 people, the
Chippewa River Lodge is a testament to the Northern Wisconsin experience. Long before Pressley came to own it,
the lodge was the most popular bar-restaurant in the area, playing host to guests from miles and miles around every Friday and Saturday night.
Now, reservations fill up so fast that the Pressley family has to plan their visits months ahead of time.
"The calendar for next summer is almost full already," said Pressley. "I don't know when we're going to get up there to use it."
