Northstar Consulting Group: Competition for College Graduates Increases Rapidly

As more graduates decide to enter the workforce immediately after College, Northstar Consulting Group predicts that competition for jobs will increase dramatically.

NEW YORK, NY, July 23, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- After receiving a college diploma, many graduates are deciding to jump right into the work force rather than taking a year off to travel the world, or further their education at graduate school. Northstar Consulting Group's CEO says 'l 'less and less graduates are deciding to go on to get their masters or further their education with other degrees and instead they're choosing to get jobs with only a bachelors degree from college in hand'. Though this increases unemployment and the number of active job seekers, it is also forcing graduates to start planning their careers earlier on. Northstar Consulting Group encourages recent college graduates to start planning their careers ahead of time because it leads to greater success in the long run. Because these college graduates have started planning ahead instead of procrastinating the result is increased success for college graduates in the job market.

After graduation this spring, it was estimated that 340,000 students entered the work force. This group of graduates will most certainly face fierce competition for the available positions; however depending on the field they venture into, many recent graduates will be happy to learn that there has been a slight increase in job vacancies since the 2011. Northstar Consulting Group prides itself on promoting within the organization, so not only will there be work opportunities for recent graduates, but also a possibility for them to progress into management or gain the expertise to be an entrepreneur.

Northstar Consulting Group has found a trend from their new hires. Instead of venturing off to travel after their senior year of college, more students are choosing to study abroad during a semester at university. Study Abroad programs fulfill college student's desire to travel, while still staying on pace to graduate with a 4 year degree. From Europe to Australia to South America, students have been known to not only stay at their Study Abroad University but travel to other countries on the weekends or spring breaks before coming home to join the work force.

Internships have also become popular among college students and graduates. Internships help students make their first break into a certain industry, as well as get some overall work experience.

Northstar Consulting Group believes that this work experience is vital before starting a career. Internships may also help college students and graduates to get a job in the future by allowing entry level job seekers build their resumes. In addition, internships help in networking amongst employees, which may help to secure a more permanent job in the future, or at least a great recommendation letter.
