NOSE JOB without Surgery, (size matters for men) by Dr. Oakley Smith MD FRCSC
Non-invasive cosmetic surgery procedures are a common, affordable practice for many women and men. Still, the cosmetic procedure that is probably the most-desired has remained a major surgical procedure — until recently.

TORONTO, CANADA, March 09, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Rhinoplasty, commonly known as a "nose job", is now available, as a non-surgical, no-anaesthetic procedure, with no "down time" for recovery and no tell-tale signs. A non-surgical nose job takes about 15 minutes, can be watched and guided by the patient in a mirror, and the results can be "test-driven" and adjusted as needed.

Non-surgical rhinoplasty is an injectable procedure that is a natural progression from the cosmetic procedures that use dermal filler to augment lips, lift the forehead or brows, and enhance the cheeks or chin. Dr. Oakley Smith is one of the first to make this procedure available in Canada. It has been available in the U.S. for several years and is believed to have been created in Europe, where most cosmetic dermal filler materials originated. Dr. Smith provides a full array of injectable cosmetic procedures to achieve the desired result. "Used in combination, they can enhance each other", he says. "Rhinoplasty is not always a stand-alone solution".

"Injectable rhinoplasty isn't for everyone", Dr. Smith cautions, noting that it is not a replacement for conventional surgery in every case. But, for many, the ease and speed are very appealing, as is the average cost of a quarter that of traditional rhinoplasty. But, it is not suitable for noses that need size reduction, being best-suited to correcting bumps on the bridge, and mildly crooked or slightly asymmetric noses. However, when it comes to large noses, Dr. Smith says filler, in some cases, can still solve the problem. "Just by camouflaging a bump or making a crooked nose straight, the nose will appear smaller", he explains. It is also sometimes used to perfect or apply finishing touches following surgical rhinoplasty. Injecting dermal fillers into the nose requires a high level of skill as well as a thorough understanding of nasal structures and soft tissues. Dr. Smith warns, to minimize the risk of poor results patients must seek out a board-certified surgeon with specialized training and experience.

Dr. Smith uses the latest array of fillers including Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm, Radiesse, Artsense and Bio Aclamid for augmenting cheeks, chin and lifting the brow, and reducing nasal labial folds and wrinkles. These procedures are done alone or in combination to create harmony of the face. He also uses revolumizers to fill in facial hallows. Dr. Smith is also one of only a few doctors in Canada using the new Botox called Xeomin for cosmetic use.

Dr. Smith, a facial plastic surgeon and reconstructive surgeon, is Surgeon-in-Chief in the Department of Otolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery at Toronto East General Hospital. He is also an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. Dr. Smith trained under Dr. Calvin Johnson, at Tulane University in New Orleans. Johnson is recognized as one of the world's foremost authorities on surgery of the nose. Dr. Smith is at the forefront of the latest in rhinoplasty innovations and has designed instruments as well as new techniques and procedures for ensuring the best rhinoplasty outcome possible.
