/24-7PressRelease/ - KANSAS CITY, MO, May 21, 2008 - The portable storage industry is winning the attention of magazines and newspapers like The Washington Post, The Phoenix Business Journal, The Earth Times, and many trade and business journals. That's why the National Portable Storage Association (NPSA) has launched a comprehensive media room to help reporters find background information on the industry, as well as keep them up to date on the association's initiatives and industry trends.
"Like traditional self-storage, the portable storage industry is gaining momentum in the mainstream media," said John Finnessy, CMP, Executive Director of the NPSA, a nonprofit membership association dedicated to the advancement of the portable storage industry. "With so many different uses for portable storage â " and so many different business models â " the journalists and broadcasters are exploring creative story ideas and we want to help them as much as possible."
The growth in containerized cargo shipping has grown 600 percent in the last 35 years and containerized trade shows no signs of slowing down. That has led to a plethora of containers sitting at ports waiting for an alternative use. One of those uses is portable storage. The portable storage industry has now come of age and the media is watching it find new and creative uses for the containers. In fact, in addition to traditional media coverage, entire new trade magazines have been formed to cover the growing mobile storage industry.
"Our media room will serve as a resource for the press about studies we're undertaking, trends in the industry, and association news," said NPSA Operations Manager Joel Rathbone. "We appreciate the work the media does to spotlight our growing industry and have vowed to make it as easy as possible for reporters to get the information they are looking for from the NPSA and its members."
