/24-7PressRelease/ -- The National Portable Storage Association (NPSA) doesn't have a crystal ball. But it does have a roundtable of experts with a proven track record that can offer valuable insights into how industry vendors should respond to the recession and prepare for recovery.
The NPSA's 5th biannual Resale Expo May 3-5 in Santa Barbara, Calif. will answer key questions facing the portable storage industry, such as how trends in customer equipment demands impact repositioning and container fleet mixes, how to gauge the total cost of equipment imbalances as the U.S. and world economies slow, the impact of consolidation and contraction of overall trade capacity, future shipping vessel capacities, and whether or not the industry will have enough equipment available when the recovery begins.
"Our event in Santa Barbara will focus on what happened in the second-hand market for shipping containers in key industries, such as leasing companies, railroads, ports and steamship lines," said John Finnessy, CMP, Executive Director of the NPSA, a nonprofit membership association dedicated to the advancement of the portable storage industry. "We'll review what's happened over the past six months and offer a forecast for the remainder of 2009."
In addition to education and networking, recreational events are planned at the May event. The Resale Expo Golfing Outing is being held at the famed Sandpiper Golf Club. Those who don't enjoy golfing can hop on an exclusive shuttle to visit some of Santa Barbara's unique boutiques and shops or take a trolley tour of the city. Registrants can also cruise the American Riviera coast on the Channel Cat Ship with views of mountainous Los Padres National Forest and the four Channel Islands.
