Nurses Overwhelmingly Acknowledge the Efficiencies Gained with Medication Cabinets

KLAS report focuses on impact of medication cabinets, carts & BCMA

OREM, UT, April 22, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- More than eight out of 10 nurses report that medication cabinets improve efficiency despite having to wait in line at peak times. This and other key findings were released in the latest KLAS report, Medication Cabinets, Carts & BCMA 2014: Technology's Impact on Nurse Efficiency and Patient.

Other key findings from the report include the impact carts have on nurse efficiency and patient safety and which medication administration technology is the most widely considered.

"Very few nurses disagree on the patient-safety gains of using BCMA," said report author Paul Hess. "But the general consensus has been that it slows them down, so it was surprising that the nurses we interviewed spoke so overwhelmingly about the efficiency gains of this technology."

The report looks at medication cabinets from ABTG, Aesynt, CareFusion, Cerner and Omnicell, as well as carts from Enovate, Stinger (acquired by Enovate), Howard Medical, Ergotron, Metro (Flo and Lionville carts) and Rubbermaid Healthcare.
