NEW YORK, NY, September 13, 2009
/24-7PressRelease/ -- Native New Yorker and philanthropist Rachael Sage is set to perform at The No Brainer Benefit Concert at Fuzion Grill & Social Club in Philadelphia, PA on Sunday, September 20, 2009. A two-time Independent Music Award Winner, Sage has earned a loyal following for her infectious melodies, poetic lyrics and often-outrageous, colorful stage banter. Sage brings her pianistic flair, charisma and critically acclaimed songwriting to this event in support of the National Brain Tumor Society.
Rachael Sage is no stranger to the altruistic. With the support of her label MPress Records, she regularly organizes various charitable projects, including an annual music compilation series called New Arrivals. The cd series has featured such notable independent musicians as Jill Sobule, Melissa Ferrick, Glen Phillips and Patti Rothberg. Sage, who was recently honored by Performing Songwriter as "One of the most influential independent artists of the past 15 years", founded the New Arrivals series upon the premise of featuring exceptional independent talent, while giving back to the community at large; 100% of the proceeds from each volume benefit a different worthy cause.
About "New Arrivals": Volumes One, Two and Three (NAV1, NAV2 & NAV3):
Previous volumes have benefited Hurricane Relief, World Hunger Year, and most recently, National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA). New Arrivals: Vol 3, available in stores now, is also a sponsor of the 2009 National Eating Disorder Association Conference, taking place Sept. 10-12. Sage and the MPress Records staff are steadily working on Vol. 4 of New Arrivals, all proceeds from which will benefit the National Network for Youth, whose mission is to connect and champion the needs of runaway, homeless and other disconnected youth. About the Benefit
The No Brainer Benefit is a musical event to kick-off Philly's united effort to fight brain tumors. The event is organized by the Wisnia Family, in honor of their son Dov, a brain tumor survivor. All proceeds from The No Brainer Benefit support the National Brain Tumor Society and the 4th annual Race for Hope - Philadelphia 5K Run/Walk being held on Sunday, November 1, 2009, at the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Sage reveals, "I am so happy to be supporting the Wisnia family and this event. A cousin my age was diagnosed with a brain tumor a few years ago, and fortunately because of early detection and good medical treatment, she's now fully recovered...but it definitely brought the issue very close to home."
The music starts at 3pm, with performances by local Philly artists and supports of the charity. Featuring Richard Julian, Julie Gold, Matt Stamm, Rachael Sage, Dov Bejamin Wisnia & Avi Wisnia. There will also be a silent auction, with items donated by local Philly businesses.
