- OKLAHOMA CITY, OK, May 02, 2007 - Debra Murray, President of Blue Spring International, Oklahoma-based provider of pure and natural products to promote balanced health and wellness, will travel to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in May. She will be a presenter at the is a member of the Women's Entrepreneurship Training Workshop conducted by Dar Al-Hekma College and selected members of the Women Presidents' Organization (WPO) based in Washington, D.C. Debra Murray is one of four WPO members traveling from the United States to present at the workshop.
The workshop will be May 6-9 at Dar Al-Hekma College (DAR) in Jeddah. DAR is providing roundtrip airfare, hotel accommodations, full board and hospitality as well as local transportations for the workshop members. DAR is a leading institution of higher education for women in the Kingdom, and has the facilities and the commitment to provide educational and training opportunities to women to promote their professional growth and advancement in society. As part of the workshop, intensive business and entrepreneurship sessions will be offered to approximately 30-40 Saudi women and college students, with the possibility of broadcasting the lectures live via digital videoconference to other Saudi universities as well.
Last October Debra Murray was part of the U. S. delegation to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Businesswomen's Summit in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. As a member of Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP) Murray said; "It was an amazing experience, and I am honored to have been part of the American delegation. One of the highlights of the trip for me was to be a part of the initiative for 'winning peace' through bringing women together and agreeing on common ground."
The WPO is a consortium of about 4,000 women-owned or women-led companies that gross over one million U.S. dollars per year. Members of the WPO are successful U.S. businesswomen with extensive experience as trainers in seminars and workshops. The WPO is headed b y Ms. Marsha Firestone who was introduced to DAR by Ms. Sasha Mehra at the office of Ambassador Shirin Tahir-Tkeli at the W.S. State Department, wit the specific proposal to organize a workshop on business entrepreneurship for women in the Kingdom.
Members of the WPO, who are spread across the United States, have been presented with this proposition as a one-of-a-kind teaching experience to help empower Saudi women by sharing their experiences and strategies as successful American businesswomen. this workshop may also provide an opportunity for anyone looking to foster business, academic, and/or cultural connections in America and in Saudi Arabia.
