alike in the Windy City at the National Bridal Market, held October 4-7. Featuring the Eastern European contemporary designs of the Oksana Couture collection, the "Bridal Reflections" fashion show took place on Saturday evening, October 4, in the Special Events Atrium at the Merchandise Mart Plaza.
Unlike any other bridal lines, Oksana Couture wedding dresses caught the eye of those looking to be on the leading edge of bridal fashion. Both buyers and fashion editors know that brides want to look unique on their wedding day, and in these uncertain economic times, savvy retailers and trend-setting bridal magazines are on the hunt for what stands out from the crowd.
Speaking of this trend, New York Times writer Eric Wilson said in his October 16, 2008 article about fashion week that appeared on page E1 of the New York edition, "While retailers acknowledged that they were likely to place smaller orders this season, several said they were at the same time looking for directional fashion — something that will appeal to customers' emotions — rather than making safe choices that may not even inspire them to walk into a store."
Some of the bridal gowns modeled at the fashion show included the billowy, romantic Edit (pictured above), the scalloped-bodice Astra, and the timeless A-line Ingrit.
