WILMINGTON, DE, December 16, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- OnePacs, LLC, a leading provider of diagnostic radiology information technology solutions, announced a revolution in Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) pricing at the 2008 annual meeting of the Radiologic Society of North America (RSNA) in Chicago, with the introduction of a fully functional, free version of its OnePacs web-enabled PACS system.

By making available at no cost a fully functional PACS system, which provides a package of features that traditionally carry a six-figure price tag, OnePacs seeks to offer a compelling opportunity that will lead clients across the United States to seriously consider deploying OnePacs at their facilities, either as a stand-alone PACS system, or as a means to expand the functionality of their existing PACS solutions. The OnePacs system is designed to function either as a stand-alone PACS, or as a tool to integrate studies from multiple PACS systems or facilities into a single centrally managed web-deployed worklist.

According to OnePacs' Chief Operating Officer, Yanru Chen, MBA, Ph.D., OnePacs is the first PACS provider to offer a comprehensive, web-based, free hosted PACS solution. "We believe the range of features and functionality of OnePacs is unsurpassed, and that the free basic version will encourage potential customers to try the system at no risk, allowing them to see tangible benefits from OnePacs which may lead them to take advantage of competitively priced value-added services, such as permanent study archiving and exceptional support services. In addition to a state-of-the-art stand-alone PACS, OnePacs provides multi-facility work list integration and teleradiology applications," Chen explained.

Features of the free version of OnePacs include web-enabled PACS functionality, a unified worklist for studies from multiple PACS systems or multiple facilities, and a web-based DICOM study viewer. Advanced worklist coordination and collaboration tools are available to streamline workflow and permit efficient distribution of cases to multiple readers in different locations. Report generation and distribution technologies permit detailed customization of report appearance, inclusion of key images in reports, and distribution of reports to referring physicians in a HIPAA-compliant fashion. Features such as limited clinician accounts, which allow referring physicians to log in to OnePacs to review reports for patients that they referred, or to use the web-based DICOM viewer, are designed to encourage referrals, provide standalone imaging centers as well as hospitals a competitive advantage in growing their imaging businesses.

According to Simon Daefler, MD, the Chief Technology Officer at OnePacs, potential customers' evaluation of OnePacs is further facilitated by the fact that OnePacs can be installed as a parallel technology alongside existing PACS systems, allowing evaluation and use of the system in a manner that does not interfere with existing technologies. "OnePacs is designed to work alongside and integrate with your current PACS solution, and if the system proves satisfactory to you, OnePacs can continue to act as a supplement to, or replace, your current technologies. This flexibility allows you to try our solution with no commitment and experience the advantages that OnePacs has to offer."

OnePacs has posted an application form for the free version of OnePacs on its webpage, http://www.onepacs.com.
