Oniqua Announces Major Enhancements to Material and Catalog Standards Database Solution

Oniqua Standards Dictionary V3.0 now supports UNSPSC standard; offers greater functionality, streamlined usability based on customer feedback.

    BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA, May 23, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Oniqua MRO Analytics (www.oniqua.com), the leading provider of analytics-based MRO optimization solutions for asset-intensive organizations, today announced significant enhancements to its Oniqua Standards Dictionary (OSD) database solution.

Available on an online subscription basis, OSD is a comprehensive material and catalog standards environment specifically designed, built and optimized for asset-intensive industries.

OSD 3.0 maximizes efficiencies in cataloging while minimizing inconsistencies and errors in completed cataloged records. It is designed to assist the cataloging function in Naming, Classifying, and Describing; with its configuration and dynamic feedback set to emulate the target ERP system.

The OSD database, through keyword searching and image support, provides Item Names for thousands of materials together with associated attribute sets, and assures materials catalogers that their material master descriptions are consistently created to relevant and rigorous standards.

In previous versions, Item Names were mapped exclusively to NATO Supply Classification - the industry standard for 30 years running. Recently, UNSPSC, the United Nations Standard Products and Services Code, has gained wide use and acceptance within asset-intensive industries. In response, Oniqua has expanded OSD's classification assignment of Item Names to include UNSPSC.

Other key enhancements available in OSD 3.0 include:
- Unique multi-code mapping and "one-to-many" cross referencing of Item Names to UNSPSC;
- Inclusion of Single Source of Supply (SSoS) and OEM-specific names to encourage best practices;
- Greater focus on minimal keystrokes and quick results;
- Description output fields dynamically built in real time;
- Improved search functionality and feedback mechanisms;
- Total character count is dynamically updated and displayed.

"With OSD 3.0, Oniqua has taken OSD from a basic look up tool to a true cataloging environment that provides relevant feedback and information during the cataloging task," stated Rob Dixon, senior consultant, Oniqua. "OSD 3.0 increases the ease of cataloging by removing the impediments often found in ERP systems. It enables users to create a new item record with assigned Name, Short Name, NSC and UNSPSC classifications; as well as produce correctly configured, dynamically built descriptions. The cataloger now also has system configuration and character count information to assist in creating the appropriate output."

For catalogers of any skill level and experience, OSD - backed by Oniqua's Cataloging Course - supports the creation of accurately constructed, classified, and described catalog records, to an extremely high standard of consistency.
