Online Prank Store to Hold April Fools Day Auction of Virgin Mary Whoopee Cushion

The Gag will donate all proceeds from its eBay auction to a popular children\'s charity to benefit tsunami victims.

/24-7PressRelease.com/ - Pasadena, CA, March 24, 2005 - The Gag, the online home of classic and modern practical jokes, gag gifts, and April Fools Day pranks, announces an online charity auction for a whoopee cushion featuring a vision of the Virgin Mary. The eBay auction will start Friday, March 25, 2005 and run through Friday, April 1, 2005 (April Fools Day), with all proceeds from the auction going to popular children's charity Can-Do.org. Odd things are nothing new to Jeff Ferguson, owner of the online novelty store. But, the day he spotted a vision of the Virgin Mary on one of his ever-popular Whoopee Cushions changed his life forever. "I was just filling a typical order for one of our Gag of the Month Clubs and there she was, gazing lovingly up at me from behind the plastic wrap," recalls Ferguson. "Since then, all kinds of weird things have been happening around the warehouse... well, weirder than usual, anyway."

After the Virgin Mary Whoopee Cushion appeared, both employees and customers alike began reporting incidents of miraculous happenings. One customer from Ohio insisted that her pair of prank X-Ray Vision Glasses actually started working. "I had to take them away from my twelve-year old," said the customer who wished to remain anonymous. "He was leering at everybody and drooling more than usual." Another incident involved a Wisconsin man who reported that his Snake Nut Can, which usually contains spring loaded fake snakes, contained actual snakes, which leapt out and began to sing old jazz standards. "I was scared at first," stated the Neenah resident, "but once that cobra started in on 'A Tisket A Tasket,' I knew I was OK."

The Pasadena warehouse for The Gag also has not been spared from strangeness. "We've noticed that some of our Rubber Chickens have been showing signs of stigmata," says the longtime fan of practical jokes, "and some of our employees claim that the Joy Buzzers are bringing actual joy to those who fall for the prank - that's just bad for business." For this reason, the store has decided to place the flatulent artifact up for auction the week before its most sacred of days, April Fools Day.

The owner of The Gag states that he has no idea how much the Whoopee Cushion will fetch at the eBay auction, but hopes that it will be more than the recent sales of grilled cheese sandwiches or doggie doors featuring the heavenly Madonna. All proceeds will go to Can-Do.org, an organization currently dedicated to bringing relief to Tsunami victims in Sri Lanka.
