LONDON, ENGLAND, December 09, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The ceremony was part of EGR Live, which ran from November 30 to December 1, and it brought together movers, shakers and undisputed leaders in the field, rewarding the best operators in the previous year.

For Rob Hutchison, founder of the popular online bingo site www.onlinebingoclub.co.uk, the event at Londons Old Billingsgate, was the opportunity to announce the launch of his sites very own online bingo awards.

Speaking after the ceremony he said: Its always great to come to these events and network with well known industry leaders, and it was lovely to see one of our main partners, Foxy Bingo, winning the EGR Online Bingo Operator of the Year Award.

In the coming weeks Online Bingo Club will also be running our yearly online bingo awards, so we will have to see how our 200,000 members rate Foxy and the other operators.

Our members will be voting for their favourite bingo site's, favourite promotions and television advert, as well as the main award, the online bingo site of the year.

Its a very exciting time of the year for us and I know that a lot of eyes in the industry will be watching closely to see who walks away with the coveted bingo awards. Our awards are important because of the votes of our very high number of members.

Robs announcement came after speeches at EGR Live from VIPs including entrepreneur and TV Dragon Doug Richard, who provided insights from his 20 years experience in technology and software, and Catriona Campbell from Foviance, who gave an interactive session on improving player experience.

Joining them were EGRs panel of CEOs, experts in online gaming, offering their expectations and predictions for the future, and taking part in a live Q&A with the audience.

The get together is a dizzying whirl of meetings, seminars, workshops, networking, parties and receptions for the delegates.

One issue to emerge from the debate was that opinion is split over whether major EU economies will regulate gaming. Speaking at the e-gaming conferences packed CEOs session, Bwin co-chief executive Manfred Bodner, Labrokes e-gaming head Ed Andrews and Unibet chief executive Petter Nylander all expressed optimism that European countries will opt for open, regulated e-gaming practices, such as those in the UK and Italy.

Bodner said: This is all about money as we know, and the Italians have proved you can make a hell of a lot more money through taxes than you can on state monopolies. If France had paid more attention to Italy, its new system would be a better one, but I believe it will change in time.

This was in stark contrast to the views of BetFair managing director Mark Davies and Nicholas Beraud, chief executive of Bet Click.

Beraud said: The situation in France is not a good one. If one looks at the draft regulation, the tax is just huge and it will be impossible to make money.

Davies agreed: We have been talking to French regulators for a long time and it has made sod-all difference, if Im frank.
