ORCHARD PARK, NY, December 10, 2010
/24-7PressRelease/ -- Nonprofit community service OP Music House, Inc. announced today that its music-fest to spotlight the prevalence of domestic violence, abusive relationships and bullying is officially annual.
The venue, although ownership has changed hands, will again be the award-winning Club Paradise in Blasdell, NY. Sound and lighting will be provided by the largest concert production company in Western New York, BigJack Productions (Kenmore, NY) .
The first EXPOSURE Concert was held in August, 2010 and was watched from 8 countries, and 34 states. It was even covered in an English entertainment website.
Founder and concert creator, Suzanne Perry, was a victim of domestic violence for over 20 years; and since emerging from those ashes, uses her experiences to support others in their plights for emotional and physical freedom. A self-proclaimed 'media freak,' she is a freelance writer and writes to educate the public about the profiles of the abused, and the abusers, and topics involving finding inner peace and band reviews. She has been invited to share her story at several organizations, to which she happily accepts for a meager fee.
"I feel like I'm running in a vat of molasses," Perry reports. "I can't reach people fast enough. When I share my story, I see connections. People nod their heads, or sometimes tremble, or their eyes well up. After speaking at one college, the folks lined up to hug me, shake my hand, and some had a tear in their eye. It was a bittersweet but beautiful connection, because I speak from the trenches, as just a regular person. I make it clear I'm not endorsed by any agencies, so there's no hotline, no intimidation, just me and my story, and I want them to reach out so I can help them."
The 2011 show will be held on July 29, 30 and 31 and will host a plethora of bands, having all genres represented in 45 minute segments, to give local talent exposure to its global audience. It will again be globally broadcast, and Bryant & Stratton College has already stepped up as a repeat Silver sponsor.
The idea behind the EXPOSURE Concert is based on the theory that if abusers were exposed, to a neighbor, a neighborhood, a town, the world, that they wouldn't do it. It's a public outreach not to ignore this issue which affects man and women, regardless of job, color or sexual orientation. Says Perry, "Nobody deserves it, and it's never acceptable or okay. It must be exposed."
Information for the EXPOSURE Concert 2.0 can be found on the OP Music House website and Facebook pages.
