/24-7PressRelease/ -- Beverly Sills was the kind of operatic soprano who didn't put much stock in people coming backstage and telling her she was really wonderful, when she wasn't. She lived with her gift. She knew.
She sought out people who were genuine with her. Sills career flowered out of surrounding herself with people who nurtured her best.
Both parents wanted Sills to aim high, a serious career, or go back to school and become a music teacher. By the time she was 19, Sills had amassed a repertoire of 50-60 operas. It was a time of concentrated training and study in her life with little money coming in.
"Everything you need you already have," she said. "You are complete right now, you are a whole, total person, not an apprentice person on the way to someplace else."
That was the philosophy out of which Sills lived her life. She brought uncommon intelligence and a commitment to excellence in her career and relationships.
