Ophira Campbell Scott Named a VIP Member of Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Nursing Care

    CHICAGO, IL, May 29, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ophira Campbell Scott, D.D., Registered Nurse at Lawndale Christian Health Center, has been named a VIP Member of Worldwide Who's Who. This special distinction honors individuals who have shown exceptional commitment to achieving personal and professional success.

For the past 18 years, Dr. Ophira Campbell Scott has brought her skills as a registered nurse to Lawndale Christian Health Center, a community-based nonprofit organization providing quality primary health care without regard for a patient's ability to pay. Dr. Ophira Campbell Scott helps patients through her expertise in emergency health care, orthopedic services, medical-surgical unit, psychiatric care unit and communicable diseases. In the LCHC clinic, she works extensively with patients in the Tuberculosis and Coumadin Clinic.

Dr. Ophira Campbell Scott has been a registered nurse for more than 40 years, following her graduation from Alverno College. She has done missionary work in Turkey, Greece, South Africa, East Africa, West Africa, Israel, Egypt, England and South America, and served in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1972 to 1975, and was discharged with honor. She became involved in her profession because of her ability to reach out and contribute to the health care industry, and attributes her success to her faith and love of helping others.

Dr. Ophira Campbell Scott earned a Master of Divinity and Doctor of Divinity from Grace Theological Seminary, obtaining the latter degree in 2004. She has been recognized with a certificate of excellence and several appreciation awards from the seminary, where she has volunteered as a teacher. She also attended the C.H. Mason William Roberts Bible Institute which she still supports. She was certified as a rape advocate from Mount Sinai Hospital in 1972. Attended classes at Northwestern Hospital and was certified as a trauma nurse specialist in 1981. She earned a certificate as a certified crisis intervention specialist in 1997 from the World Crisis Intervention Network Inc. Institute of Education, Training and Research. She was a Board member of Wholistic Gethsemane Health Practice and served as treasurer in 2000. She attended Mount Sinai Hospital and was trained in becoming a Chaplin. She received a certificate as a Chaplin and did volunteer work in the hospital. She has been a trustee of All Nations Church of God In Christ and served for twenty years as the chief financial officer. She is the state vice president of missions in the 1st Jurisdictional of Illinois Church of God In Christ. She is active in her community and works with the Marching around the School Program in the North Lawndale Community area which fights against violence and promotes improving the education of the children and she also visits the Kenwood Nursing Home to minister to their clients.

In the future, Dr. Ophira Campbell Scott intends to continue to make a difference all over the world, and will continue to travel to help people in need.
