BRADENTON, FL, December 19, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Patients cannot always anticipate an injury to the face or mouth, or severe tooth pain. For this reason, Dr. Charles A. Tomeo and Dr. Charles C. Tomeo, oral surgeons in Bradenton, are pleased to offer dental emergency care for their patients. When a dental emergency occurs in Bradenton, patients can now call Tomeo & Tomeo Dental Implant & Oral Surgery Center at (973) 669-0500.
"Many of us, at one time or another, confront a minor dental emergency such as a children's knocked out tooth, or a bitten lip or tongue. Common sense and remaining calm should get you through most of these dental emergencies. However, when experiencing any symptoms that impair your normal activities, I encourage you to visit our office for immediate emergency care," said Bradenton oral surgeon, Dr. Charles A. Tomeo.
For traumatic injuries, patients should rinse their mouth with a mild salt-water solution. They should also stop any bleeding with moistened gauze or a tea bag by applying pressure to the area that is injured. Pain can be controlled and swelling reduced with a cold compress. For extreme bleeding that won't stop, large cuts possibly requiring stitches, or intense, unbearable pain, Dr. Charles A. Tomeo and Dr. Charles C. Tomeo, oral surgeons in Bradenton, FL, urge patients to contact their office and visit their local hospital emergency room.
If a patient experiences loose or broken brackets, bands or wires, patients should leave it as it is. Dr. Tomeo recommends trying to move the wire into a better position with a pencil eraser or a Q-Tip, but if the wire doesn't move, it is important to contact Tomeo & Tomeo Dental Implant & Oral Surgery Center for guidelines and instructions on what to do. While dental emergencies are rare, it is important to make orthodontic treatment as comfortable as possible.
