/24-7PressRelease/ - NEWPORT, RI, November 04, 2006 - The New England Disaster Recovery Information Exchange (NEDRIX) recently held its annual conference and disaster simulation. The theme of this year's simulation was Pandemic Planning. Guy Sapirstein, a senior partner with Organizational Resilience International, LLC was one of the simulation planners and was also on the panel of experts speaking about the Human Impact of a potential pandemic on the workforce and organizational functioning.
The simulation was well attended and received excellent feedback from participants who reported that they learned a lot about the necessity of planning for people.
The simulation committee which is co-chaired by Maelyn Arvendon of State Street Bank and Gail Coulter of Amiga Insurance designed an innovative simulation which engaged participants in the process of manufacturing a product (a DooHickey) as well as responding to injects that mirrored real life situations.
An important aspect of a pandemic flu scenario is that infrastructure is not directly affect but people are. This necessitates specific planning for people in addition to adapting IT or other types of technology.
