The new portable device is called the GPED (Global Positioning Entertainment Device) which allows users that are on board boats, ships, trains, planes, on golf carts, in trucks and in automobiles the ability to receive the internet at anytime 24/7 and view it on a 6 inch touch screen without an Air Card or traditional WIFI.
The new device's front ends user interface is set up like a simple kiosk which allows easy usability for a three year old to a 100 year old to play games, use it as a GPS, play recorded music, make free calls, text for free, watch favorite pre-recorded television programs, run office programs, SKYPE friends in foreign countries, read emails and browse the web and be hands free the entire time while using the device.
- The Portable Orion GPED is equipped with a Web Cam, Digital Camera, Bluetooth, GPRS-EDGE GSM 3.5 G MODEM, GPS Tracking, 160 GB Hard Drive, 1 GB RAM, 1.87 Intel Atom processor, Office XP, GPS, Unlocked SIM Card, 6 Inch Touchscreen, Stereo Speaker phone and applications.
The Orion One unit which will fit in the back pocket, will be priced at $399.00 and be available through Orion's On-line Web Store and in retail electronics stores worldwide.
With a special wholesale price being offered to the public, the GPED will run 10 second full motion video advertising at the beginning of some applications.
"I wanted to build a device with the consumer in mind, so we took the form factors from the cellular phone industry, (the ability to make phone calls and browse the WEB from anywhere), the tablet PC industry by adding a 7 inch touchscreen and the netbook by giving consumers a device that they could truly afford," Said Orion's Founder, Gabriel German.
