Orlando May Have Dropped in Start-up Activity but EMIE Marketing say that this is No Cause for Concern

A new study finds that start-up activity has dropped in Orlando. EMIE Marketing say there is no need to be alarmed. The city's strong position in start-up density encourages optimism among the small business community.

ORLANDO, FL, July 09, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- New research reveals that Orlando's start-up activity has fallen. The study measures start-up activity in America's 40 largest metro areas. On the recent Kauffmann Foundation's Index, Orlando ranked number 33, while it had ranked number 21 one year ago. Only Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Milwaukee have a lower rate of new entrepreneurs. Outsourced sales and marketing firm EMIE Marketing say there is no need for concern however as, on the positive side, Orlando's results in start-up density look promising.

The Kauffmann Foundation's Index considers three factors: newly created start-up businesses, start-ups created by choice rather than necessity, and density. Experts believe that the drastic fall is in line with the current strong job market in Orlando. "People feel stable and are able to secure jobs as employees," say EMIE Marketing. "There is no urge to start a business in order to guarantee a better lifestyle."

Evaluating the study, experts find that the more important result is density. In the most recent year for which data was available, in 2012, Orlando ranked number three. This means that for every 100,000 people in the Orlando-Sanford-Kissimmee area 196.1 start-up businesses were born.

EMIE Marketing explain: "There is no need to be concerned; especially considering that Orlando's job market is very strong at the moment. Nevertheless, work needs to be done in order to encourage people to start up their business by having the relevant support available." Entrepreneurship is a part of the region's identity and measures must be taken to remain in the top 40 rankings next year.
