Dr. Kim, a senior researcher since 1992, is currently employed with the Korea Food Research Institute (KFRI), an organization that specializes in food and nutrition, agriculture, microbiology, biotechnology, biosafety and biosecurity, and biotechnology. During his time here, he also spent two years dedicated to serving as the leader of the group of rice research, from 2005 to 2007. From 2001 to 2002, Dr. Kim also worked externally as a visiting researcher in the Philippines at the International Rice Research Institute.
A member and vice president of the Korea RPC Society, Dr. Kim is currently active with the Koran Society for Agriculture Machinery and The Korean Society of Food Preservation. His efforts in the field have earned him a Mister Award through the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs in 1996 and again in 2004. He was also granted a Prime Minister Award in 2009. Over the last 25 years, Dr. Kim developed the first-generation RPC model, a second-generation RPC model, and a third generation mega RPC model. He also established an evaluation standard for ability performance of RPC and unit machinery, as well as several others standards in his field.
Dr. Kim holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and a Master of Science in Engineering from Pukyong National University and a PhD in Biomechatronic from Sungkyunkwan University. He served in the Korean Army from 1985 to 1988. For his efforts, Dr. Kim was recently published in the 33rd edition of Who's Who in the World in 2016. Married to Bok Hee Jung since 1968, they share two children.
