/24-7PressRelease/ -- According to a leading business expert and email campaign specialist, businesses that fail to keep their email databases up to date are not only failing to maximise the benefit of their current campaign, they are also putting future campaigns at risk.
Digital marketing and business expert Chris Nagele has a strong message for businesses running email campaigns: the consequences of failing to clean out and update your email database could far be worse than you imagine. Nagele is owner and manager of web consulting company Wildbit, the creators of email campaign tool Newsberry.
In a recent interview with business TV network yourBusinessChannel, Nagele stressed that it its crucial to update your database every time you run an email campaign. In the business TV show he explained why. Typically, when a company runs an email campaign, 10 per cent of the emails will 'bounce'. In other words, the company will receive an automated reply to say that the email address no longer exists, or that the domain is no longer available. It is these 'dead' email addresses that are the focus of Nagele's expert business advice.
On the business TV show , Nagele explains that internet service providers responsible for managing large email campaigns track the automated email responses. They collect information about how many emails bounce, and whether or not the recipients are able to opt out of receiving future emails.
"It is very important to clean up your list each time you run a campaign," says Nagele, "or you may be penalised by your internet service provider". This means future email campaigns could be consigned to the bulk mail or spam folder, or blocked. "It is very important to maintain your reputation with your ISP," advises Nagele on the business TV show.
Fortunately, by following expert business advice of email marketing specialists like Nagele, businesses can stay on the good side of their internet service provider, and avoid seriously compromising their future campaigns.
