Outpatient and inpatient treatment programs are similar in content: individual and group therapy; cognitive-behavioral therapy, where one learns to change thoughts and actions to make it less likely they will use alcohol; motivational interviewing, where mixed feelings about quitting and getting treatment are resolved by finding personal motivation for change; and motivational enhancement therapy, which uses motivational interviewing to assist in the discovery of a motivation to quit. They differ by frequency schedule. An inpatient is overnight and can last from one to six weeks.
"We've found that our clients come to us at various stages of addiction," begins Phil Allen, CEO of the Pat Moore Foundation. "Because of that we don't believe every person would benefit from in-patient treatment. Some have not lost their jobs and family but on the brink of it. They, through some personal guidance, have found their way to us sooner than others."
Through Nurse Practitioner Services the Pat Moore Foundation offers customized individual counseling sessions and groups during the day, night, or weekends. Treatment is private and anonymous, and includes a full medical assessment, weekly follow-ups, certified addiction specialist counseling, and family counseling.
