CARLSBAD, CA November 19, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- This year, the North County Philanthropy Council (NCPC) recognized 47 volunteers that freely gave of their time, talent and treasure to support a non-profit member of the NCPC and improve the quality of life for others. Following a fundraising campaign that garnered an unprecedented 100 percent participation from a community of trustees, staff, faculty and families, Pacific Ridge School nominated Barbara Ross and Jay Lichter, last yearfs co-chairs of the schoolfs Annual Fund Campaign. Both Barbara and Jay were recognized as "Volunteers of the Year" at an NCPC luncheon held on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido.

"During challenging economic times, these parents worked together to grow our Annual Fund by 40 percent, and garner 100 percent Board, staff, faculty, and parent participation," said Kari Perry, director of philanthropy, Pacific Ridge School. "They've established a precedent for a culture of giving through their motivational and fun style."

Barbara Ross, a Carlsbad resident and mother of a Pacific Ridge School 11th grade founding student, volunteered for the second consecutive year, this year, to be an Annual Fund co-chair and to serve as co-chair of the school's Breaking New Ground Campaign. Jay Lichter, a resident of Rancho Santa Fe, father of 9th and 10th grade founding students, and a Pacific Ridge School trustee, also volunteered for the second consecutive year to co-chair the Annual Fund and joined Barbara as a co-chair for the Breaking New Ground Campaign. They were assisted last year by Pacific Ridge School parents Lee Ann Allman and Bob Prendergast in the Annual Fund and both Lee Ann and Bob have agreed to be involved in leadership roles again in this year's campaigns.

The Pacific Ridge School Annual Fund supports operational expenses and tuition assistance to ensure that a Pacific Ridge School education is attainable for students from all over San Diego's coastal north county. On Saturday, October 24, over 400 community members participated in the school's groundbreaking ceremony which kicked off the Breaking New Ground Campaign. With school enrollment two years ahead of the original plan, Pacific Ridge School has accelerated its master campus building plans to break ground on the first phase of the plan, which includes a new synthetic athletic field and an energy-efficient high school building to accommodate up to 360 ninth through twelfth grade students.
