Brunner suggested, "We are surrogate daughters doing what sons and daughters would do for their parents if they were living in-town, or had the time and free away from other professional and family obligations."

A Good Daughter based in Margate, Florida, was founded based on Brunner's own experience. Brunner originally moved from California to Florida to care for her aging mother with Alzheimer's disease.
