LONG BEACH, CA, April 19, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mesa Commons Apartments is an affordable housing development with a strong sense of place. The idea behind it is to incorporate sustainable aspects through walkability to amenities and the implementation of "Green" technologies. This 77-unit affordable community will serve large families with incomes between 30% and 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI). The subject site is a 4.08 acre vacant parcel with primary access from El Cajon Boulevard and with full view from the main road. The surrounding neighborhood is single-family homes adjacent to a commercial corridor. The architectural goal for Mesa Commons is modern - contemporary architecture that conforms with previously approved plans for the community. The architect incorporates Universal Design concepts throughout the project.
Mesa Commons Apartments will be a huge asset to the community, and will include one-, two- and three-bedroom units for families who qualify. With a warm yet modern feel, the two and three-story residential development will contribute to the neighborhood by offering an aesthetically pleasing design and beautiful landscaping. Recreational amenities for the residents of Mesa Commons will include a tot lot, fitness facilities, picnic areas, laundry facilities, surveillance cameras, assigned parking, and a clubhouse that encompasses a kitchen, computer room, entertainment area/meeting space and restrooms.
Mesa Commons is another fantastic example of public/private partnerships that are so successful in creating affordable housing today. The project is being developed using 9% federal low income housing tax credits, conventional construction and permanent loans from Chase Bank, equity from Boston Capital, and gap financing from the San Diego Housing Commission, all of whom were on hand to kick off the project.
